Picture Blocks

First of all when I posted this picture on facebook I had a different plan for these pieces of wood but to my surprise I found out that I actually did not have 4x4 blocks. Yep that is what I am saying. I went to Home Depot picked out a 4x4x12 ft board, was told by a freind, that they would cut the wood for you. So I was ready for my task at hand, I found a worker and because my board was posted as 4x4 I figured all I had to do was have him cut it at 4inches. Wrong!! After my hubby got home I told him that the guy at Home Depot didn't allow for the cut so now my blocks are not a perfect fit. My husband ofcourse laughed at me. I didn't understand since I thought I was doing him a favor by having them cut it for me and me not bothering him to do it for me. Little did I know that the wood is actually not 4x4 it's 3 1/2 x 4. HELLO!! Wouldn't it have been nice if they told me this? So my begining project turned into an awesome PICTURE BLOCK project.

I wanted to share the sander that I had to use. Bigger than I am. Yikes!!

Mod Podge everything. Not to good with the Mod Podge but I am not giving up on it yet.

I used my Stampn up flag punch to punch out my banner. I also used my handy clips, that are used for my home made clip it up.

I used paint on the edges after the mod podge dried. Several web sites used paint first than mod podged paper over paint, but I wanted my paint to be on the edge of my paper also. This look did not turn out as I had hoped it would. I will try a different way next time. I hot glued the clips onto the blocks, I bought skewers from my local Wal-Mart. I also hot glued the skewers to the block base and put a dab of hot glue on the skewers to hold the banners on with. I attached buttons, ribbons, flowers and jewels. This project took way longer than I wanted it to, but It was so well worth the time.
