Picture Blocks

First of all when I posted this picture on facebook I had a different plan for these pieces of wood but to my surprise I found out that I actually did not have 4x4 blocks. Yep that is what I am saying. I went to Home Depot picked out a 4x4x12 ft board, was told by a freind, that they would cut the wood for you. So I was ready for my task at hand, I found a worker and because my board was posted as 4x4 I figured all I had to do was have him cut it at 4inches. Wrong!! After my hubby got home I told him that the guy at Home Depot didn't allow for the cut so now my blocks are not a perfect fit. My husband ofcourse laughed at me. I didn't understand since I thought I was doing him a favor by having them cut it for me and me not bothering him to do it for me. Little did I know that the wood is actually not 4x4 it's 3 1/2 x 4. HELLO!! Wouldn't it have been nice if they told me this? So my begining project turned into an awesome PICTURE BLOCK project.

I wanted to share the sander that I had to use. Bigger than I am. Yikes!!

Mod Podge everything. Not to good with the Mod Podge but I am not giving up on it yet.

I used my Stampn up flag punch to punch out my banner. I also used my handy clips, that are used for my home made clip it up.

I used paint on the edges after the mod podge dried. Several web sites used paint first than mod podged paper over paint, but I wanted my paint to be on the edge of my paper also. This look did not turn out as I had hoped it would. I will try a different way next time. I hot glued the clips onto the blocks, I bought skewers from my local Wal-Mart. I also hot glued the skewers to the block base and put a dab of hot glue on the skewers to hold the banners on with. I attached buttons, ribbons, flowers and jewels. This project took way longer than I wanted it to, but It was so well worth the time.

Wall hanging

I went to my local Home Depot and picked up this board, it was called a craft board it was around $5.00. The only bad thing about the board is that it is kind of rounded. So today my pictures are not sticking to good. I am gonna have to hot glue them down I am thinking.

I used Mod Podge, but first let me tell you that I have used it before but not in a big section as this was and I am also not a Mod Podge lover, even after this little hanging, I am still not a lover or Mod Podge, I like the look of it after it is done but I am a fast maker and this can not, repeat: CAN NOT, be done right a way. It takes time, you have to put a coat on the bottom wait so it sets a bit, than put your paper on. Make sure your paper is adhered all the way and dried. I used a Pampered chef rolling pin, yes, it was a small one and worked for me. I just decided to use it after the fact though. So as you can see my stuff has air pockets which you do not want, just take your time and it should not turn out like mine.
You can see the shine after your Mod Podge dries. I like the finish look but you can also see the air pockets. In this picture you can see the frames that are not mod podged, I decided to go ahead and do them also because I wanted the glossy look.

After placing the solid backing color on I decided to mod podge that also. So yes I mod podge pretty much everything but the pictures. Had to keep the glossy look going through out the whole process right?

Here is the finished look. I added buttons, ribbon and alpha's.

Close ups for you because I was not too happy with the finished look on camera. My monkey blinded into the paper too much.

Table top Flip photo album

This idea came from My craft channel. The best site to see in all. They have some great ideas and great tips.

Bridal Shower

I made this invitation for a bridal shower that I was doing for a friend. It was very nice to actually firgure out an invitation for this event.

I made these candle suckers for the bridal shower party gifts. I found them online and wish I could give credit to who had posted them first. Whoever you are thank you because these turned out really really cute.

I found directions for making this online, I can not remember what site I found them on but thank you for sharing the idea with me. I really loved it and was so glad that I found enought hand sanitizer for the bridal shower gift. Yes this opens up to reveal a travel size hand sanitzer was put in them. The shower was outside so it was a great idea, something for them to use at the party.

Journal

I have made a lot of these to give a way as gifts. They are real handy when you want something stylish to write on.

Chalkboard

This is a chalkboard that I made out of an art canvas and chalk paint. I added ribbon to it for hanging. This was pretty easy but I am not in love with the art canvas because when you write on the chalkboard part it is not a hard surface so I am going to try to find another idea for this. Other than than it turned out really cute.

Candle

I cut a scallop circle out from my stampin up punch. It just gave it a little more of a pretty look. I re-packaged it and used another scallop circle as the tag. Cute.

I added a bow and a strip of decorated paper to each candle to give them a better look than they were.

I bought these candles from the $1.00, I took them out of the package but saved the package so I could re package them.

Flower Pot pictures

I made this flower pot a few years ago but it is so cute I have to share once again with everyone. There is pictures on the other side also.

Etched Votives

My finished look. Very cute.

This is what the etching cream looks like when it is on your votive.

Easter Treat

Last years Easter Bunny present. This is filled with candy. Found this idea somewhere on the net. Sorry I can not give credit to who made this first.

Count down to Christmas

I wanted to make Calendar countdowns to christmas for my niece and nephew. I was not sure which one I liked best so I tried several different ways. The first one I use felt and cut the stocking out and than glued them together.

My second choice was using little round boxes decorating them with paper and embelishments. This way was cute but it was hard to for me to come up with a way to hand it on the wall. So this idea was out for the next year.

This is the same as the first one but I decided to hand it on the wall and a banner and this way was alot easier for me.

Votive Candles

Plain candles were bought from the $1.00 Store.

I used my punch to make a lace type look.

I than cut out my flowers from my Flower Shop cartridge.

The finish look. Plain to cute.

Another Wreath

I made this wreath out of the Flower Shop cartridge. It turned out so cute. I got the wreath from the $1 Store.

2010 Calendar

I made about eight of these calendars for Christmas 2010. I got the idea from a Scrapbook Convention I went to in Chantilly. My friend sent me a kit that she got from another friend but I changed the whole look so that I could add pictures to it. On the one they used not pictures were added.

Love Wall hanging

I used my cricut to cut out all the pieces.

4th of July Make n Take

This is a make n take that I made for one of my crops. I got the ideal from Sandi Genovese on Scrapbook Showgram. It turned out cute.
