So this week I was challenging myself with my cricut. I wanted to cut fabric with my expression but just never found the time to do it. I had already bought the fabric and this stuff called Fusible webs by pellon. I iron the fusing on the back of my material. Was ready to cut out my material, set my needle depth to 3, speed to 3 and pressure to 4. The cut was ragged and I still had to cut it with scissors. Tried it again and placed material on bottom and put my depth to 5 and still the cut was not good. I than just have up for the night.
Next day I went Wal Mart and bought Heat N Bond. Put a new blades in, just incase it needed it, but pressure to 5, speed to 3, pressure to 4 and it cut out my design with no jagged edges. It is awesome! Now to get all my cuts done and than put it all together to share with you all. Not going to tell you right now what I am making but it is going to wow you, believe me it will.

Canning jar votive holders
I found this cool idea on Pinterest once again. Have I told you all how much I love Pinterest? So many wonderful ideas. All I did was put a vinyl heart inside the jar, spray painted in it. Take your time with spraying your paint inside the jar. I did not do this and I have areas in my jars where the paint is not even. Once dried completely, peel off the vinyl heart. Attach wire for handle and enjoy.

Candy pillow box
I made this candy pillow box out of thick plastic. I found these clear report covers at Staples. They were so much more cheaper and I had no idea where to get plastic from.
I cut the pillow box with my Cricut Expression, used Tags Bags boxes and More 2. Now let me just say I had to test this out, thinking that I would have to cut it twice but nope, only one cut worked. Once you cut it out don't take it out of the machine because next you need to switch your blade from the cutting blade to the embossing blade. When I say embossing blade it's not used really to emboss but is used to score the fold lines. So I guess we should call it the score blade.
I should have said that I only use my Gypsy so I can not tell you how to use the score blade without my Gypsy. When I positioned my pillow box on my mat I also pulled up another mat on the screen which allows you to see the bottom mat. This allows you to set up you score lines. So once I had it all set up I cut the pillow box first, returned back to screen, pulled up the second screen, switched the blades than pressed cut again. My score lines came out perfect.
I than used my Big Sot and used an embossing folder to emboss on the pillow box. Folding the box is the only hard part about the whole project. It's plastic so it is kind of stiff to fold but it does fold. I used red line tape to attach the sides.
I than made a belly wrap for the box. Punched out four hearts. Folded three of them in half. Glued the sides together to form the 3 d effect. Once done with that I glued it to the heart that we did not fold. I used mesh behind the 3D heart. Added twine around the box, added my tag and I was done. I was inspired by Pinterest. I need to remember to write down the sites I get my projects from so I can give them credit. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

2013 here we go!!
I just found out about this app called blogger!! So excited because now I can blog more using my phone!!! Or should I say so I can blog regularly like I do on Facebook. I was told that the blog app works just like Facebook. You take a picture than post. Easy enough for me to try it out. So from this day forward I should be blogging at least once a week.
So today my hubby is outside building us a chicken coop for our new chickens. Molly and Daisy do not like the chickens so hopefully Del will get the chicken coop done fast so these two dogs will leave them poor birds alone.

Picture Blocks
First of all when I posted this picture on facebook I had a different plan for these pieces of wood but to my surprise I found out that I actually did not have 4x4 blocks. Yep that is what I am saying. I went to Home Depot picked out a 4x4x12 ft board, was told by a freind, that they would cut the wood for you. So I was ready for my task at hand, I found a worker and because my board was posted as 4x4 I figured all I had to do was have him cut it at 4inches. Wrong!! After my hubby got home I told him that the guy at Home Depot didn't allow for the cut so now my blocks are not a perfect fit. My husband ofcourse laughed at me. I didn't understand since I thought I was doing him a favor by having them cut it for me and me not bothering him to do it for me. Little did I know that the wood is actually not 4x4 it's 3 1/2 x 4. HELLO!! Wouldn't it have been nice if they told me this? So my begining project turned into an awesome PICTURE BLOCK project.
I wanted to share the sander that I had to use. Bigger than I am. Yikes!!
Mod Podge everything. Not to good with the Mod Podge but I am not giving up on it yet.
I used my Stampn up flag punch to punch out my banner. I also used my handy clips, that are used for my home made clip it up.
I used paint on the edges after the mod podge dried. Several web sites used paint first than mod podged paper over paint, but I wanted my paint to be on the edge of my paper also. This look did not turn out as I had hoped it would. I will try a different way next time. I hot glued the clips onto the blocks, I bought skewers from my local Wal-Mart. I also hot glued the skewers to the block base and put a dab of hot glue on the skewers to hold the banners on with. I attached buttons, ribbons, flowers and jewels. This project took way longer than I wanted it to, but It was so well worth the time.
